HOPE Squad

HOPE Squad is a suicide prevention group that was adopted at my high school. HOPE Squads are implemented by HOPE4Utah and are starting to grow to other states as well. Students are recommended by other peers to be in HOPE Squad because of their ability to listen and love others. I was able to be a part of the HOPE Squad for a year and then I was honored to be recommended by fellow HOPE Squad members to be our squad's president for a year. This experience was a life-changer because we were taught how to see others and their emotions. Fortunately, during the years that I was a member we did not have a suicide at our school and was able to raise suicide awareness and prevention. This group of students and teachers taught me various things about not only others, but myself and who I want to become.
